filling gaps in a sphere

Hi.

I’ll try to explain what the final render should be. Imagine half a ball of glass inside the S-shape. The size of the glass ball just so big that the S is impressed into it’s surface.

How do I model the glass ball part?

I’ve tried to make a sphere but I can’t get the size/radius just right. Also, if I make a sphere, then how do I get the S to slightly press into it?

I’m thinking about going with a basic sphere shape, almost right in size, and then a duplicate the inside of the S and then manually inserting the S’s vertice into the sphere vertice for vertice.

  1. I moved the sphere object center to the point of the sphere touching the S and scaled it to fit the S.
  2. I used Retopo to shape the sphere to the S.
