That’s an homage, as kids sayna this days, to a greatest monster movie of them all - Tremos 3. Actually it’s organic beast in the show. Actually it was an exercise in hard surface modeling after Hard Surface Modeling In Blender course by Aidy Burrows & Gleb Alexandrov. But instead of funny and cute robot I got this mechanical abomination as a fan-art to a B-movie from late 90s. It’s weird, ha?
Yes, it has a jet engine in it’s ass. Yes, it probably would be banned in many countries with camera angles like this if it would be a little bit anthropomorphic.
Oh, it also supposed to breathe fire, but because I’m also sucks at simulation, it’s rather coughing with fire.
But it’s world’s first fire-coughing T-Rex/chicken robot thingy! So I present it to you.
Try to enjoy.
Okay, this is you don’t see every day. Top notch modelling, materials and texturing!
Also really nice flame effect, is it post processed or volumetric?
Thank you for posting the model in multiple poses as showcases the agility of the design. You used quite interesting design choices achieve the said agility considering the original reference is an organic being.
If I wanted to nitpick the chest wireframe net topology looks messy up in close.
You could spice the images with flames using “Flares Wizard” addon for the final touch if you want to keep it blender only.
But at some point I’ve noticed that’s it’s not topology-driven, but that it looks obvious, so that’s when I decided to make a messier, but less predictable wire.
Oh cool, definitely will check this out! And current flares done in Blender entirely but with A LOT of tweaks and horrible hacks.
Bizarre and original. It is like something put together by an eccentric engineer. I’m a fan of the first Tremors movie, I think it’s a classic, didn’t know there was a third.
That is amazing! Somehow I missed the Sketchfab model with the flame. Despite using game rendering tricks for the realtime flame it still manages to look absolutely gorgeus from most view angles.
In my oppinion I think the original net looked better even with the clearly visible topology line in the center and my eye has no problems with the constant nets elsewhere.
