Fire simulation on text

Hi,

i have problems following a fire text tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChUkVRD_UzM&list=PLdpdffzPtoglmrArTN5oanWDIsFeuWEm2&index=12).

If Im just simulating fire on the text “3D” like in the tutorial the first test is fine and looks like this:

However, if im using my own text (which has more letters) the first test with the same settings looks like this:

The only noticable adjustment (in fact the only one) I have to make while getting to this point is to increase the octree depth to 8 on the remesh modifier because otherwise the text would be distorted if i would leave it on 4. The result is (I think at least) that the mesh is more detailed and im guessing that this causes the problems.

You should set the emitter to a particle system instead. Using the re-mesh modifier never really satisfies me.
