firefly world( way too many fireflies)

Im learning more and more about cycles and I m amazed with it, but Im having sutch a headache with my scene, I tried a lot to smooth the fireflies from this scene but nothing seems to work.

I rendered about 6000 passes and it was with a huge ammount of fireflies, and I dont have any idea about why this is happening, can somebody give me a hand here, I really need it!

Have you tried using the non-progressive mode and jacking up the indirect diffuse samples?

Because in this case I would go to non-progressive mode, set the indirect diffuse samples to 20 or more per-pass, and leave the other sample types at 1.

Also, I would also enable the clamping option (set to 15 or higher), as well as setting the ‘filter glossy’ value to 0.23 or higher. (to help smooth caustics and manage fireflies).

Where is the light coming from? Is it outside of the room coming in through a window? If so, then yeah, that’s going to happen. Cycles is unidirectional, and is not suited to these types of renders. You might also try turning off caustics. Again, externally lit interiors or anything with lots of bounce lighting is going to take forever to converge. It would really be in your best interest to use a different renderer with a BiDirectional sampler if you absolutely must create a scene like this.

Ace Dragon thanks, and i found out something very weird, Im having this werid issue only with one of my computers, and I dont understand why exaclty, take a look at the difference between those two images, one made with one computer and the other one made with another, with the computer that I rendered the image above I can make a pass per second while on the other one I need 40 seconds per pass, but I have mutch more quality with fewer passes compared to the other one.

So now I m really lost!

The image below was made with the slower computer and its almost clean.

You don’t happen to have a high-end GPU in the slower computer and the rendering device set to GPU, do you?

If so, that might partly explain the disparity you’re getting in times, another possible cause is that the faster computer has some other tasks running in the background that may be preventing you from taking full advantage of the CPU’s power.

wait a little, my notebook, is the one that rendered the image with better quality, and it have an i5 4gb of ram and a GTX 285, while my other computer that is way faster to render have a GTX 660 ti but the processor is a dual core with 4gb o ram, it doesnt render properly because of that? Its really weird that I can have a pass per second because of the GPU and the quality look horrible.

So The only thing that I can do is buy a new computer and keep the graphic card?

On other thing that is weird is that it starts to render very well, and then after a while it starts to form fireflies, and its weird

There is a lot of reasons for fireflies, one is real white materials, second are small mesh emitters.
You can put a big mesh emitter in back of the camera with low value.
Use the Clamp setting, use emitter in windows and make it non visible for camera.

Cheers, mib.
EDIT: BTW. the GTX 660 is a good card and should be faster than GTX 285,
you need at least 2.64a to work with Kepler cards.

thanks mib2berlin, but the weird thing is that those two renders where rendered with the same file, so one looks great with less passes and the other looked horrible, my computer can be doing this? because its slow compared to the GPU or not?

This is really weird, and I dont know what to do exactly since it should render the same in both computers but with differences on speed.

Arg!!!

I have a theory I dont know if make any sense, but I have a mother board that have a PCI express 2.0 plug, and the GTX 660 ti requires PCI express 3.0, so, what I think is that maybe, since the cycles render is pathtracing, witch require more processment and sends more information for the motherboard, what happen is that the GPU is sending more information than the input PCI express 2.0 can take and part of the information is lost, maybe that is why the render look so blurry and without any definition, I dont know if that is possible, but if it is, that could explain the huge difference between both renderizations, and I guess that even if I wait 100 000 passes it will still lacking on definition and quality because it will allways lose information on the process.

That could definitely be causing it, and causing damage to your Mobo and GPU to be honest.

Uhm, that was a theory, I would like to hear from somebody that understands the way blender works on its core, because with octane I dont have those problems, and I m using the same computer, why I have this problem only on blender.

Right now I ll not pay for a mother board with PCI express 3.0 it s way too expensive for my taste, specially because I will need to buy a new CPU, Ram, so I really need to be shure about it, because I dont think that it may harm my computer but I m not shure, please help here!!!

And about the links, thanks a lot that will definelly help me a lot after I figure this problem out!

Thanks for the help so far!

Please somebody? I have so spend money here and I really want to make it only if I really need it, so I want to be totally shure about it before I spend.
