I downloaded the 1.0 Preview Release but all my plugins for 0.9.1 didn’t work. Has that been fixed now?

First of all the preview release isn’t the final 1.0, which came out today. Second whether a given plugin is usable in a given version of firefox (plugin foo .81, bar .91 and baz 1.01 are seperate plugins, each one works with different versions of firefox, foo and baz work with 1.0, but bar only works with .91 etc). Most of my plugins don’t work anymore, but I think it won’t be more than a few hours before it’s supported again.

hmm i must have accidentally downloaded it within minutes of it coming out LOL.

you see i re-installed windows, and first thing to get was mozilla.

the servers seemed fine, 1.0 was the number, and it was last night in my time.

LOL very lucky i guess.

Alltaken

Awesome, have to update my site tonight, I knowed it that it came out. FireFox rocks and beats IE with a Final kick out of the browser the best ring. IE sucks hell, FireFox rocks. I love it and even got it on my program cd I use for school to use my favo program on school directly from cd.

Now I need Firefox 1.0 >:] (evil happy look)

Ok, I’ve heard a lot of talk of how awesome firefox is. I’m not a skeptic, I’m just a little uninformed. Could somebody put up a list of what makes firefox so great?

I use Firefox, but since I have the every-day-comparison to IE (because all customers use IE) I tend to think that the speed improvement is BS. FF takes 4 times longer to load than IE. Am I misunderstanding something?

think of it this way, IE is like a piece of cheese…

swiss cheese… full of holes

its always nice to try a variety of cheese’s

go to mozilla . org and check it out

cheers

That’s because firefox isn’t built into windows like IE. IE loads as a part of explorer, thus all your libs and such that are needed to run explorer (and IE) are there when you double-click The Icon Into Hell.

Firefox has:

-Stability, it’s not built into windows
-Tabs, no more shuffling around with mulitple windows
-Active development and community, IE hasn’t been seriously updated in over 2 years, it doens’t have a community to help you through any problems, and since it’s not built into windows like IE if something drastic happens your don’t have tor reload windows
-Security, it’s costantly being updated, and unlike windows mozilla actually cares about it, thus if a security flaw is found it’s dealt with quickly and a release it made
-cross-platform, if you use linux, beos, mac, ppc-linux, *bsd etc you can use firefox on all of them
-Spyware, you’re not as susceptable to spyware with firefox because it doens’t use activeX
-Extensions and themes, totally customizable with things like google toolbars, download extensions and many other goodies. Themes galore.

among others

Yeah, but Emmental has got to be one of the worlds finest cheeses. And its full of holes. Holes ain’t so bad.

Have you got a better analogy? Cause right now I’m thinking Emmental == IE … and that just can’t be right :-?

How about you buy a house without a backdoor, you’re told by the mfg. that they’re going to put one in before you buy, you buy and it doesn’t have a back door. The mfg. knows about it but still ignores you, after several years.

Firefox is a sun room where the back door is

That’s a whole lot clearer now. What kind of mfg people would try to sell you a house without a back door? …and promise that they’d put one in without doing so? Must be a crap company

Thanks for the explanation Dittohead.

ok perhaps I was off target with the swiss cheese…

if you unscrambe this it will give you a cheese better associated with IE…

b-c-e-e-e-g-h-i-l-m-r-s-u

cheers

Give us a clue, lilo.

Is it a smelly cheese?

[edit]what letter does it start with for instance?

Is it something like …( b-g-h-i-m-l-r-u )…cheese?

lim…
