First Fluid Simulation

Hey all, i’m incredibly new to the world of 3D modeling, but I am a commercial product photographer by trade so at least I understand light…

At any rate, I followed this tutorial on FaceTube to generate this fluid sim. My two questions are these:

  1. Why is my fluid so sparse in volume? If I want to fill the ‘container’ what parameters do I need to make adjustments to?

  2. I noticed that the fluid basically ‘pours’ into the environment from one side of the domain. Why is this?

Thanks in advance. I’m freaking excited to learn from blenderartists!

The tutorial looks fairly “straight forward”, though there are quite a few things that might cause issues.

  1. Incorrect normals. - In edit mode, select all [a], and recalculate normals [Ctrl] + [n] > outside

  2. Improper scaling - In object mode, apply scaling [Ctrl] + [a] > scale

Usually for fluid to pour in like that, the object has been assigned as an ‘inflow’ object.

A good idea if that doesn’t fix things would be to post your blend file at:

for more help.

Once you have 10 or more posts, you can attach your file at blenderartist .
