First Frame – Realistic Animated Film (Bangladesh-Based Urban Scene)

Hi everyone!

This is the first frame from a 3D animated film I’m creating using Blender. The story is set in an urban Bangladeshi neighborhood and will explore themes of friendship, love, memory, and lost time.

I modeled, composed, and lit this scene to feel like a quiet, moody winter morning in the city. The empty footpath, street vendor cart, and rickshaw in the distance aim to set a melancholic tone and reflect the environment’s texture and realism.

I’m still working on polishing the lighting, texture and composition, so I would really appreciate your honest feedback.

The rendering looks professional?
Does the atmosphere feel believable?

Are there any areas that look too clean, flat, or out of place?

Suggestions to improve the mood and storytelling in this frame?

More frames and animation will follow. Thanks for looking!

All of the asset are free asset. 90 percent asset downloaded from blenderkit, and skechfab. And One asset from polyhaven. The HDR also download from polyhaven. One building is created by the messy ai. The flyover, road and street shop created by me. The texture downloaded from Ambient CG.

Looks good so far, the sky and background looks a bit fake due to the blur, why did you do that, I personally think it would look better with a bit of a mist / fog over the background instead of a blur.

Thanks. The sky and hill actually hdr picture. I will replace with solid model later. My first render had mist. But after adding mist, it turned out that the camera’s focus point had shifted to the foreground, which is not what I wanted. Besides, I haven’t seen noticeable mist in the major cities of Bangladesh for the last ten years. I have left out mist. after considering everything.

That make’s sense, I was not sure what reference images you were using, I just thought in general mist could work well in that area. I do think swapping it out might help as you can clearly see where it changes at the moment, I think having something in focus would help this.

I haven’t completely given up on the idea of mist yet. If can add some mist to the foreground as well, the problem will be solved. I’ve given up on it for now because I couldn’t lighten the density of the mist. To be honest, I’m still a beginner in Blender. I’ll edit mine after I upgrade my skills. I didn’t use any reference photos. This is how I saw my city. This is a synopsis. The synopsis of a locations.

OK, that’s fine I think some light mist could look nice. I personally always work from reference images as I find it easier, but what you are doing is fine if you can manage it.
