Hi, I’ve been playing with Blender and Wings3d for a couple of
months now – just doing various tutorials and getting used to
the interface :-? After creating the obligatory space scene and
submarine I wanted to try a human figure. I found an excellent
tutorial for a “Joan of Arc” character. So far I have the head
more or less completed which I offer here for your critisism before
I continue on with the body.
The neck hasn’t been work on yet as it will probably change when
the body is attatched. I’ve been trying to set up a good procedural
texture for skin without much luck – maybe someone could share
their settings. Also what’s the best way for creating realistic hair in
Blender when render time is unimportant?
Proportions are evidently exaggerated in the forehead and eyes, but I assume this is the effect you were going for.
For hairs there is a lightweight good technique by Manuel (search MakeHuman on www.kino3d.com) and there is a poligonally heavy script by RipSting which generates hair one by one (search on Question & answer forum)
You said criti…what??
man, I can’t say even a letter against this work since you are talking about first attempt in head modeling.
I like it no matter what others say.
Sorry to say that I don’t really have much knowledge as I am in the learning stage.
neck is too thin from the side, lips protrude too much, eyes are too big and the outer corners should be bent down more. good start, though. hell, its better than any of my heads!
Thanks for your comments – so speedy too The face is quite
stylized so the eyes are meant to be that big. I will however tone
down the lips a little and adjust the outer corners of the eyes.
Something about the eyes have been bugging me but I couldn’t
quite figure out what it was. Here is the front and side head views
from the tutorial so you can see what I was trying to achieve.
Thanks again
