First head model

my very first head model. Followed some tutorials with edgelooping and stuf and then builded this one out of nothing. But I still have some problems with the lips and making the ears and eyeballs. Anybody got some good tutorial or image which explains how to make those ?

Have a look at this:

http://blenderartists.org/cms/fileadmin/Articles/CJ/2/adrianna_xvid_fixed.avi

There’s also an eye tut that goes with this but can not find it at the moment. This should get you going anyway. I would suggest you use some images as a reference it might make it easier for you.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

little update.

  • succeeded in adding the eyeballs (I think they look great).
  • lips are a bit bigger (still not happy)
  • eye sockets more to the center and a bit more in the head
  • removed the bumb in his forehead and created eyebrows instead
  • chin is a bit ‘maleified’ :stuck_out_tongue:
  • nose is a bit wider
  • some smoothing here and there

now it’s time for attempt 500 for the ears.

Hey search for Wizard’s Joan of Arc thread he has a really good explaination for modeling ears towards the later pages (there are like 20 or something lol).

Welcome to the forums, keep on practicing

Since you haven’t displayed a reference, its hard to say the “look” of this person. It seems like its an alien. You have the correct topology and edge-loops and you need to tweak the vertices to achieve the form which requires references. Your last attempt looks much better. You still need to pull the lips out forward; right now it looks like some old person without teeth. The eyes seem to protrude out slightly. Put the spheres where they belong and adjust the eye sockets around it.

Here is a Maya tutorial on modeling the ear. And here’s the Joan of Arc tutorial. There’s a video tutorial for Blender too; just search for it in these forums. My thread is here and there is a blend file on the last page if you want to see how the ear was modeled. I might have a copy of just the ear mesh somewhere. Just PM me if you want it.

Keep up the good work.

Hey WIz, how’s it going man, how do you feel about hijacking this good man’s thread so that we can just “shoot the breeze” for a while lol

Hehe… do not tempt me  Lets be nice and keep this on-topic for the new member.
Cheers!

my seccond threat and you already want to hijack it

Well this is my reference, it’s not really a good image but I might be putting to much effort in it. It might be usefull to tell you that it’s for a game and not for art too;)

Now I’m going to do a seccond attempt to make that ear.

yea that changes alot…well a little
-when modeling for a game you should be focusing on low poly counts and some good texturing
-for this excellent low poly modeler’s tutorials…they are one of they best for game design
-Good Luck
