first model

This is my first ‘finished’ model of a can. The ‘got tickets’ is an inside joke we have a work. Please, I want the good and bad

Lightning looks too thick in parts and is too white. Could use the node editor for some post processing (bit of fog-esque maybe)
The lilac seems out of place, draws attention but to nothing interesting.
You seem to have only modelled a can, there’s so little going on it may have been easier to just do it in photoshop.

I did only model a can, the water droplets were also modeled and applied with a hair particle system. I used the lilac to just draw attention away from the all black. I was thinking of removing the lighting.

You should have found a better lightning image and use the whole with of the image, also it’s very obvious that the background is horizontally flipped. Also try to move the camera up close to the model, composition-wise it looks like the can is of low value, since the camera points downwards at it.

It looks great for a first model; I’m guessing you followed the tutorial on blenderguru for the drink, and the one on lightning. You followed it pretty well, if that’s what you did  As far as the lightning goes, it might look a little better if you move it closer to the edges of the image, then tilt them towards the can.

@ Artisten, that isn’t an image of lightning; he probably used one as a reference image, but that in itself is hand-modeled lightning

Thank you for the feedback, I did follow the tutorials on blenderguru to put this together. I didn’t do much for post processing and thought lightning looked better the fire. It certainly needs revamped but thanks again for the feedback.

Add something in the background, the image looks really plain without background

I think that the can needs something to sit on. And, I think that this “something” should be semi-reflective (matte…) and that it should be capturing … or should plausibly appear to be capturing … the lightning. Of course you’ll need to give some serious visual thought to how this surface (which BTW could be “comp’d in” to what you already have…) should behave, because it ought to direct attention toward the can without pulling the eye away from it.
