Hello, I am new to blender and 3D in general. I have been using blender for 2 weeks now. I just finished my first real render. I did it of my RC Helicopter. The workbook I was using told me to make my own render and post it in work in progress, so I did. Would like to post it here because it is finished. Sorry for the 2 posts. Please keep in mind I am a beginner. My other post has more pics. But here are some.
Thanks but dont say that, I bet you have really good stuff. I am a photoshop wiz, so that might have helped a little. This model took me about 40 hours. Thanks again.
I like the modeling of the tube parts of the airframe. The shell could use some thickness though, it looks like paper. There are some smoothing errors on the closeup of the swashplate. You either need to fix the normals on this part, or turn on Autosmooth. Also I agree with previous poster, you could turn down the spec a whole lot.
All that aside, not bad for a first post! Are you going to give it a more interesting environment than Blender blue?
I’d like to but dont really know how to do anything cool yet. I know its got some rough spots in it but it came out better then I thought it would. thanks for the reply.
Looks detailed, I can certainly tell its a helicopter. The materials need some work, but they’re not too bad. I’m more of a plane person myself (I’ve got a foamie, its a homebuilt one called a “knuffle”). This is certainly better than my first project (a stickman)!
For a background, you could place a plane behind the helicopter that has an image of clouds on it, so it looks like it’s flying. There are plenty of pretty pictures on google.
Thanks for the info guys. Maybe i’ll do the BG image like you said. I havent got the balls to fly mine inverted yet. I can fly good nose in and all other orientations. But not inverted.
Good first model (verry good even)
in the fift picture it seems that you forgot to weld 2 vertices, and due to the smoothing they went their own way. But then again I don’t know the heli so it could be done on pupuse.
And the white rotor blade is way to white but that has been pointed out above.
Hello Falk yes I did change them. I think it cost $20 for the landing skids and they came with the vertical and horizonal tail fins. Sorry for the noob question but what do you mean, reorient the normals in the swashplate?
Thanks guys really appreciate it. Dont know much about materials yet. As for the BG, i’m thinking about taking a picture of my kitchen table and seeing if I can make the chopper look like its sitting on it.
