First render with Radiosity!

My first ever radiosity render. For 7 months I’ve been making models but never rendered a good one. But now when I know how, it can only get better! (Model was created for use in game, that’s why the sharp edges)

Cheers!

Clean and smooth, I like it.

Nice gun sillouhettes. Maybe a bit o spec?

What would I get from that? Gotta learn what all the options does…

Cheers!

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but sorry, I fail to see how this benefited from radiosity. You have no color, only blacks and grays. The whole point of radiosity is to show light of different colors bouncing off the objects in the scene, but if everything is black & gray, it kind of defeats the purpose. Also, the guns themselves seem very dark, like they are not reflecting any light at all.

The whole point of radiosity is the tutorial I followed here, and as it appears to me this was just a way of getting better lighting. But of course all criticism is welcome, and gladly supply tips too. Why it was so dark was basicly because I tried to get the UV looking so much like a real gun, and I’m not that good with Photoshop yet. But what kind of materials are good if I wanted a good texturing? And does using Nodes change the way the material acts and reacts with light? As said, give me tips and I shall use them greatly until next time.

Cheers!

If you wanted better lighting, AO is by far a better option in this case. Look through all the submitted images on this forum, and you’ll find that almost nobody uses radiosity, and with good reason. It’s hard to tweak, takes a long time to render if it’s not precalculated and looks blotchy unless the mesh’s are sufficiently subdivided.

Nice model btw
