First scene finally finished!

Hello Everyone.

I just thought I’d share the first scene of my film with you all. I’ve been working on this film since March, and I’m pretty proud of the results so far.

Crits please!

alright. I look forward on seeing the whole thing. story looks very interesting.

so, some notes on the movie…

  • WAYyyyy too much panning and zooming (in the shots that don’t even require it)
  • animation seems ok, except when he is walking… looks like sliding.
  • textures need work, looks quite plastic and shiny… at least turn that specular down, if you want to keep the otherwise simple texturing style…
  • modelling fits to the style…
  • nice effects here and here, changing of the room to this “inside head” kind of room… transitions worked …
  • well, as I said, looks very promissing. good work!

oh, and what were those paintings no the walls?

and lastly, something strange on your compression or fileformat perhaps, movie doesn’t run smoothly… and crashed couple of times when I tried to skip. try something else than windowsmediaformat…

Since im on a mac, and im not about to taint it with microsoft media player, i cant watch it since its .wmv.

Thanks for the critique.

I see what you’re saying about the panning and zooming. For some reason I’m afraid shots won’t look interesting enough without the camera moving… but watching it again after your comments made me realize that it’s too much movement.

Sorry about the wmv compression… It’s just one of the easiest ways to get my films down to a size that I can actually upload to tripod.com

I’ll see if I can’t get a small enough .mov file. My original is a 640 by 480 avi. I’m going to burn the whole thing to an SVCD when it’s finished.

DivX? As far as I know, it offers better compression and most people will be able to view it.

If you’re on mac try it with the greatest media player on earth : Geofry’s MPlayer :)[download also codecs for it;]http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design6/news.html . It should work with GNU/Linux,BSD or any unix system.

heh, it’s just codecs man, no need to install player.
windows media files play nicely with mplayer, as burt pointed out there… also on linux.
