Well, i’ve known about Blender and tried getting into it a couple years ago and the main interface was just too strange. Then a couple weeks ago I tried the new 2.8 version and have made a lot of progress with it now. I am well into the basics with the ‘First Steps Fundamentals” and trying the Textures & Materials now. Really enjoying learning & more and more every day.
