Hallo,
here a first rendering of a industrial background for a imagefilm. It is a mix beetween a power plant and a rafinery, what do you think about?
Made with blender 2.7 and rendered with cycles. No adjust in lightning and camera (focus,…) yet.

Perhaps you can tell us something of the background for this project? Shall it depict a new power plant or an older one? Does it show a catastrophic scenario (I ask because of the dark sky) or will it show regular operations?
It’s hard to say anything about the image without knowing a little bit more. Everything looks brand new at the moment. And I guess there is too much gloss.
But it looks like a solid start. Keep it up
Thank you very much. The background is the creation of a imagefilm for me and my partner for youtube and our website www.kohlhas-3d.de. The rafinery will be a small part (10-15 sec) and should underline our skills. Additional we have a big ocean scene, some parts of imagefilms for PALFINGER, and so on.
First: The dark sky is onle a appended world of a old scene, to test the reflections. The rafinery and the power plant shall be new and produce oil and power in an peacefull world (perhaps our friend, the “Master Of Sound”, would add chirping birds).
The idea is to start the scene with a minimum of lights (only lamps, reflector,…). Then i want to simulate a whole day with a sun, till a nice moon will appear. Additional i want to add a little bit of smoke on the ground, to simulate morning fog. When possible i also want to use the volumetric features in 2.7, so far i find a compilition of blender, that will support rendering with gpu.
Here a first rendering from the ocean scene:
