Hey I’m very new to blender been watching a lot of tutorials and decided to work on my very first blender project, took my 4 hours to make. I watched a tutorial on how to model the chair and cup but I did all the lighting and shading myself. I don’t think much of it and maybe you will. The chair on the right is a quick model based on coffee table in my house couldn’t get the glass material quite right. Do you guys have any tips or tutorials I can read so I can fully immerse myself into this. Thanks a lot everyone
I think the modeling is OK, but could work more on the textures.
I think it looks really god since this is in fact your first time using blender. When I first started I made a portal cube wasnt the best but it got me into it. Now I do lost of modeling and texturing. I see two easy problems that can be fixed go and click on your coffee table and go into object mode and click “smooth” and it should fix the edges up.Now it looks like you only used diffuse textures on your objects. What you need to do is learn how to use nodes and also try using hdr textures for these types of scene instead of all the lights. Also look up how to get rid of fireflies in blender that might help the quality of the render in the end
Personally I’m more that guy saying that you should stay away from HDR textures for the first projects. Even with manually lighting in Cycles feels a little limited to me I’d say you should at least get a feeling for it. Surely HDR lighting is great and all that but it still is a shortcut, wich, if you are not familiar with manually lighting a scene to manipulate it, limits you and your creativity a lot.
Nontheless, back to topic: Most things already said, smooth shading will remove all those hard edges. Whats wrong with the glass is the IOR try to set it at something about 1.5. Materials and modelling are pretty good for your level but lighting is way off. There are many tutorials available aboout interior lighting. Don’t restrict your search on Blender, there are way more interior lighting tutorials for Max available which are pretty easy to transfer to blender.
