Lots of lurking, very little posting… I figured it’s time to actually start sharing!
I’ve been wanting to make a short for quite a while and have always loved 3D, so I decided to bite off way more than I should probably be chewing and make a 3D short. Blender seemed like the most obvious choice (and it’s been awesome, I might add).
I’ve been studying a series of from-the-ground-up tutorials and building props on the side as I get the chance, refining them as I learn more. It’s not the fastest, but it’s helping me learn.
Anyway, Luxo and the ball are going to be little easter eggs in the background and the bookcase is, well, a bookcase.
And finally, the opening shot of the short is a small flyover from the moon to the window of the house where everything takes place, so I needed some neighborhood houses. I thought it only fitting then to build a house that looks similar to the “Up” house. (To be honest, it has more things wrong with it than right.
I’m trying to keep it under wraps for the most part, but I’ll tell you this much: it involves a college student pulling an all-nighter, working on a term paper.
