It’ not much, but t is a start.

niiiiiiiiice
a bit of DOF blur would’ve been cool, but its all good
Thanks.
I actually tryed z-blur, but it seemed focus on wrong place all the time, i guess i have to tweak some more.
See ya
Very nice
Only crit I have is that the hole in the ice looks “inverted”, meaning the ice looks like water surface and the hole looks like a block of ice. But then, I don’t often see the ice from underneath
Great fish
hou,
really nice, the fishes look real and it’s nice scene
I like it
vosa
wow thats fantastic! my only gripe is the type of fish. to me <and im no fish expert> they look like kind of british river fish, you know the whole tweed-jacket-and-waders kind of fish, not arctic kind of fish.
but its still a dam good blend!
rock on
I did an underwater picture once and I used a trick to simulate the “thickness” of water due to small impurities floating into it :
In a 2d prog like to$hop or the gimp, add some monochrome noise on a white background, blur it a little and save.
Now in Blender, add a plane that fits the border size of your cam, put it in front of the camera, the plane actually touching it.
Map this plane with your dust picture with traceable off, ztransp on with alpha to zero, push ref emit and spec to the max. Now in the row of buttons in the right corner of the material screen, push Ref, Spec, Emit maybe Nor and don’t forget Alpha (yellow one).
In the texture screen push CalcAlpha and NegAlpha and Clip.
Now hit F12 and enjoy
Serialsiner.
Wow, that really makes me want to find my ol’ fishing rod and poke a hole on the ice here
Real nice blend!
Those fish are amazing looking. Those textures done in GIMP/…?
also like the lighting effect near the hole. very cool looking!
Ok that’s really weird because I started making a fish scene yesterday, and your fish look a lot like perch, and my thing also had perch in it! However, my scene only has one perch in it and is gonna be used as a poster for Perch Lake, which is where we have a cabin and go to on holidays. For no reason at all, here’s a picture of Perch Lake at sunset during the summer.
Really nice image! The overall scene is excellent, but I only have 2 crits for the fish. If these fish are perch, then they should have a white belly, and the spiney ridges in the dorsal fin (back fin) have points to them. I know this because I’ve been cut many times with them at our lake when handling perch.
If your fish aren’t perch, then I’m terribly mistaken.
Was the fish texture made in GIMP? It’s good!
i’d smooth out the water where the hole is too. . .
You might want to make the ice a bit thinner. This would allow more of the sky to be seen. Great scene!
Very nice
/me puts ‘learn UV’ in queue…
Stefano
Looks great, as a fellow country-man your picture feel always homey.
Actually the fish looks fine to me, it must be the best known fish in Finland, see:

hahhahhaa took another look to my link. Poju, did you take texture for your fish from the picture behind that link? ![]()
Wow thanks for replys folks.
This is just UV thingy test and scene is just something i throwed there quickly, but i might improve it coz u like it.
Yep it is finnish perch and it should have lighter belly.
And yes MoreK i did take texture there, scaled up 300% blurred, sharpened and tweaked little, but still it’s not mine.
Suggestion: I would make ice and light bluish, would give the picture colder feeling. And if you could add some sparkling/glittering to ice, would make it more interesting… Just my thought…
