Fixed Length Lines to Curves

I am totally new to this stuff, but I am trying to make an Easter project for my daughter. What I want to do is make my daughter a giant easter egg (roughly 4ft high). I am going to use 5ft sections of PEX or cPVC pipe to create the frame and I am trying to model it out on the PC to see how it will look or what I will need exactly.

What I want to do in blender is create 4 lines (front / back / 2 sides) of 5in or 5cm or whatever then curve them into an egg shape. I do not want to length of the line to change. Is there a simple way to do this? Ideally I would also like to make a line that would be formed into a circle to go around the middle of the egg.

Any help would be appreaciated.

Thanks

Could use a curve and curve deform modifier to manipulate existing geometry, which should more or less keep the length

Sanity check says most edges are 0.0315 long and there are 160 of them, total of 5, which is the same length as when starting from straight line of edges.

Great this is what I was looking for. Problem is I can not even make a simple curve in this program and getting frustrated.

That’s a problem everyone had and solved it with training
