Hello, Blender Community.
Like many of you, I was enjoying the Optix denoising feature in Blender. After some tests I’ve done with it, I stumbled upon a problem of Optix denoising not working and having an endless message that kernels are being loaded and it might take some minutes. And still, it didn’t work no matter how much I would wait.
Recently I’ve found the solution that worked for me.
Basically, there is a cache that Optix is creating. As far as I understood there are some issues that might occur with it that do not allow Optix to work properly. So basically you have to delete it. And it should solve the problem.
On Windows the cache is located here:
C:\Users*YOUR-USER-NAME*\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\OptixCache
Delete the cache7.db file. If needed - you might restart your system. Then you can head to blender, open the scene, and turn on the Optix denoising. After this, you can start rendering. It still will take some time to load kernels, but finally, it should work.
I would like to give credit to these posts that have helped me to solve the problem on my computer:
Please let me know if it worked for you?
Happy rendering, guys!
