Flaming Sword, put on hold

A stylized flaming sword. The initial goal was to make a game ready asset.

I overreached myself, and had to dabble in some areas I did not have much experience in: Non-opaque materials, detail sculpting, and the process of making an asset game-ready. I spent a long time trying to bake textures to a low poly mash, just to encounter issues and troubleshooting them.

That’s why I put this project on hold: I want to get some experience in asset making first, maybe try out some simpler, smaller props to get a better feel.

This is the high-poly version, The orange parts are suppose to have a translucent, firey glow, but end up being milky. Did I put too much Emission on them?

This might be because of the color tranform.

Try going to the color management in the render settings and change from the default Agx to filmic. Agx is known to desaturate bright colors pretty agressively and to make it hard to get nice saturated fire (doesn’t mean it’s wrong, each color transform has its pros and cons).

It could also be caused by the way the material is setup. I see reflections on those parts, which means it’s not just an emissive material. Apart from the emission, does the material have a bright color? If you turned the emission off, would the material be white? If yes, try making it darker so the main color doesn’t compete with the glow.
