Flash and Quicktime rendering

I am using the Blender 2.57 and I would like to render my animations out as Flash or QuickTime films. On changing the render settings to one of the formats, Blender displayed an error about not being able to start the video stream.

Is there anything else that I would have to install?

I am running Blender on Ubuntu Linux 10.04 64bit

Does your computer have quicktime installed ?
Try changing the codec settings, just render out an image sequence and convert in an external application.
