Flat, tube, cube or sphere - which to use?

Never really understood this when applying textures to objects, unless they are flat, tube, cube or spheres. Right now I’ve made a bowl, using the spin function, and then created a simple texture in photoshop which is a series of horizontal stripes. However, I can’t get this to texture to appear on the bowl and run all the way round seamlessy.

Any ideas?:confused:

Sorted now, set it back to flat and it was working?
