# flatten a surface

How can I flatten a vertices surface before duplicate the object (leg) , so I can put the two sides together and then remove the double lines. And then make the torso.

Select the vertices you want to “flatten” then scale them to a plane using the axis perpendicular to that plane. (ie: if you want them flattened in the xy plane, choose z axis.)
The trick is to scale the vertices to zero-- s, z, 0. This will move the vertices, but only in the z direction, to the mean z location of all the vertices, assuming that median point is the selected pivot. If you change the pivot to the 3d cursor, then scale zero will flatten the vertices to a plane going through the 3d cursor.

If i understand you correctly, try using the modifer mirror and use the clipping feature…if you need extra room so as to not flatten something you want to keep. extrude the side you want to mirror.

Though from the sounds of it, you may want to use the mirror anyways because it sounds like you want to just duplicate the object so its symeticral, which is what the mirror does

with mirror clipping I duplicate the vertices to the X Y or Z side thats is not what i meant , I want to flatten a vertices surface.
Scale them to a plane is not easy , I add a mesh plane and have to set it perpendicular to the vertices surface which I want to flatten?. Thats difficult.

No, select the ring of verts you wan to flatten, and scale them to 0 on the axis that they are aprallel to - like ar ring of verts going up and down on z, you would scale to 0 on either x or y depending on which axis you want them to flatten on.
