Flickering with maximized screen

Hi guys, I usually use Blender on my Win desktop. I’m using Ubuntu 15.10 on my laptop which has a i915 GPU.
The GPU is using the open Intel drivers from 01.org, which seems to give good performance for my old GPU.
For some reason when I have Blender 2.77 open in a maximized screen the screen flickers when moving in the viewport.
It does not do this when in floating screen. I’ve tried setting the different draw methods, so far only “full” works, but really slow.
The other draw methods starts glitching the screen, removing the everything but the viewport. It works fine when using fullscreen “alt+f11”.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
