hey, im trying uv mapping for the first time in blender and im trying to flip some verts and lay them over another set exactly the same, to conserve room on my map and simplify the mapping process. is there a hotkey to flip or how can i do this if i can do this?
Look in the UV/image editor window for the transform/weld/align tools available to you. It is like working in the 3d view so you also have the Shift+S options as well as the vertex snapping tools. Scaling vertices by -1 along an axis can be used for flipping them on that axis, just like for modelling.
As you haven’t shown a specific example of what you want to do you’ll have to figure out which tool is best for your needs.
that almost worked, for some reason the faces are a bit off from each other so i cant lay them on top of each other, heres a pic of what im working with, the model is equal on both sides (or should be atleast) and i want to lay one set of faces over the other so if i uv map one side the other will be the same.
would welding be what im looking for? to merge 2 sides? iv been looking and i cant quite figure out what welding does
I have a bad habit of working around things like that. What I generally do in that situation is move one group over the other as close as possible and then select each vertice (usually with ‘c’) and then scale them to 0 (‘s’ and then ‘-’). It takes a long time and is a pain in the ass, I know, but it works. There is surely a better way to do it though, if you find it please post it here, I’d appreciate it.
