Hey guys,
In preparation for a short animation, I have updated my flower guy. I made a small animation about a month ago with this guy titled “when I grow up”, and I have updated mainly the textures, and added a flower pot to him.
I’m particularly happy with the terracotta texture I made. It worked out exactly as I wanted it!!
Its nothing special really just yet, but its getting there. He is currently displaying the “art of ninjaness”.

ha looks good…the lighting and materials could use abit of work tho…jus so it can be perfect…

It all depends on what look your going for. If you’re going for a realistic look, yeah, the textures and such need work. If you’re going for a quasi-toon animation, I think it looks fantastic. Lighting isn’t too key until you begin doing the animation, where it becomes key.
There are plenty of tutorials out there for lighting, it should be a quick google away.
I’d be interested in seeing the first frame of your animation, because that’s when you can really critique lighting. You could spend time and improve the lighting on stills, but it’s more of a waste of time considering you could spend the time getting proper lighting for the animation itself.

Looks nice! I love the terricotta texture you’ve got there! Can’t say I like the way the petals attach to the head, and I think possibly a more rough texture for the head and petals. But other than that it looks like it will turn out nice!
