fluid obstacles can't be imported geo?

i’m using the fluids in blender in Lightwave, as per this thread:

problem is, i’d like to take my Lightwave geometry into Blender and use it as an obstacle. it calculates wrongly every time. penetrating totally as if it’s colliding with a different shape altogether. here’s my blend file. i’m totally open to help here:
