I’ve been looking into some more advanced fluid sim options lately and I need to use a fluid sim IPO for a project this week. How the heck do you set a fluid sim IPO key?! I can’t find any keying options for it anywhere, no matter where I hit the I key. There must be something I’m missing.
Set up your fluid sim, select the object you want to key something on, go to the Ipo window, select Fluidsim from the Ipo Type dropdown, select the value you want to key on the right, and hit Ctrl-LMB.
Thanks. Something should be added to the BlenderWiki manual to indicate that fluid sim keys are NOT set the same way as a regular keyframe.
Well, in fact all Ipos can be set in this way, but I agree that there should be an I-key option for fluidsims.
LOTRJ, if you aren’t a wiki author, as a long time user and 2k+poster to these forums, would you like to be one? if so, please send an email as per the http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Meta/New_Writer
We need all the help we can get, and this is the second time in the last few months you or someone else has found out something important about fluid sim that was lacking in the wiki. btw, animating fluid sim is documented here http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Fluid_Simulation#Animating_Fluid_Property_Changes i added it back in Nov 07.
Sure, I’ll send off an e-mail soon.
Wiki updated. I hope I was clear enough in my wording.
Setting FluidSim Keyframes
Unlike most other animatable values in Blender, FluidSim IPOs cannot be keyframed by simply using the I key. In order to set a keyframe, you must select the property you wish to animate in the IPO window and ctrl+LMB click to set the keyframe to the desired location in the IPO window.
Very clear, Thanks:)! I’ve been wondering this myself!
ty lotrj :). Have a chocolate chip cookie, with Pecans, on me this happy new year!
