I have yet another question about fluid sim.:o
I can not seem to get any obstacle to work. All of this is so confusing!:spin:
When I try to make an obstacle, (say a glass) all the water pours over the bounding box of the glass, instead of actually going into it. Any ideas of why this may be happening?
Thanks,
ZippyZap
Are your fluid and obstacle meshes on the same layer?
I daresay that your obstacle mesh is not set to shell, doing that should fix the problem.
But before continuing, I would HIGHLY recommend watching this video: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103303
It walks you through creating basic fluidsims and and I think it would be very beneficial to you.
Yes they are in the same layer
I watched the tutorial, but the audio didn’t work. Even so I watched the whole thing. I didn’t see him add a fluid object. I tried not doing that and the domain did turn to fluid, but it seemed to go right through the obstacle. I tried again with fluid, and it didn’t work either. Thanks for trying though.
It always helps a lot if you can attach your blend. It could be a whole host of things that causes problems.

FluidObstacle.blend (134 KB)
There’s the .blend file:)
Your obstacle works fine except for a few issues:
-
apply the SubSurf modifier, or move it above the FluidSim modifier, to have the accurate shape used in the sim
-
make the ‘bowl’ thicker, or the sim will have trouble keeping the fluid from penetrating the mesh
-
use “Volume” for the obstacle
Thanks SO SO SO SO MUCH! It worked great!
