I made this using BLender and Davinci Resolve.
I used mostly free objects from blendswap.com
oh, and some mixamo motioncapture. Using alt o and decimate keyframes in the graph editor smoothed and reduced the jitter of the mocap.

Hi,
This is a different but similar version of the city scene. Changed a few things. Keyframe animation vs a Keyframe mocap combo in the first Video. Props to the person who made and released the free chappie model that was rigged nicely. Was able to make the flames a bit more see through, but not more flame like yet. Animating Chappie with keyframes was an exercise in using the graph editor. Once I started getting used to that, Was fun.

The preious video I was able to use mixamo and the mixamo rigger addon to sort of get the character to look out the window.
I wrote a little how I made the scene at digitaltreats.com
With different building
This version used a building My Brother Peter Designed, and I Textured and composed into a city shot. I then thought why not frame the shot and used a Helicopter I found on Blendswap. Then I thought why not have a character, and kit-bashed an executive robot sitting in a chair. Then I thought a flying car would also add to the sci fi theme. I wouldn’t of been able to do this shot with out compositing. Also the several iterations were easy compared to rendering out the whole scene each time. I just had to render out the element I was replacing like the buildings or the executive robot with the Chappie robot. I saved the foreground as a separate blend file and saved the frames into a separate folder for compositing.
This was created using Blender and Composited using Davince Resolve.
Objects were found on blendswap and gumroad. I modeled a building also. Some kit-bashing for the engine parts. Chappie was keyframed animated. It was interesting to make the movements robotic. I used graph editor modifier noise for the swaying of the car and engines and some of the fingers of chappie for secondary animations. Frame range was a nice feature because I didn’t want the motion of the fingers in the beginning of the animation.
Sound was added in Davince Resolve.
