A week (or so) has passed since I recieved my copy of The Essential Blender.
To fall with the door in the house (yes that is a proper Dutch saying), I almost instantly have problems, the pictures are too small, luckily there is a part on the BlenderWiki where you can download color pictures (because in the book they are black/white, most probably to keep the costs low) which aid you to see if you made the right selection etc.
Anyway I thought, I post a WIP which show my fairly beginner’s skill (I never really posted Blender work (models etc.), so following a source, I hopefully succeed.
Currently, I’m at Chapter 4; Mesh Modelling, which is about modelling a brigde, and I have to admit (working on the pillars now) the result present already looks good.
I don’t have The Essential Blender yet, but I hope to get a copy in the near future.
I have Blender Basics, Second Edition for v. 2.42a, Introducting Character Animation with Blender (which I am working up to - it’s a bit advanced for where I am right now), and The Official Blender 2.3 Guide, which was a little disappointing in that I find it a bit hard to read and Blender was already at v. 2.4 when I got interested in it.
Keep up the good work and keep posting - it’s encouraging to other noobs!
Yeah, I hope Character Animation is just a nice as this book is.
Hopefully I recieve (a notification since when the book is the most probably to arrive, I’d be at school)that I can pick up my book, tomorrow (at least, 5 to 7 buisness days, and I ordered it the sunday before last).
Hmmm have a bit of a problem here.
After the book says that I have to apply the modifiers (into a real geometry) there are cracks and splits in the mesh, whilst when before that, everything looks ok.

By the way, Tony Mullen’s book is scheduled to arrive today, yay.
