I have a question about a school project I have been working on.
How can I animate footprints walking on the path? I plan to have them run on it at a high speed (like a fast forward), until they run through a tunnel. (By the way, the path is located on a sphere with a displacement modifier.)
But I’m not exactly sure how to work each of them, and I don’t know if they will give the overall effect I’m looking for.
I want the prints to look like drawings running across the world. It’s similar to the chase scene from the Emperor’s New Groove. Here’s a clip I got from Youtube:
I’m sure there are far better ways than I can think of. but using planes with the footprint texture or in the shape of the footprint if you prefer and keying them in from an inactive layer into the active layer should work.
I’m kind of new to Blender. How do I key the footprints into an active layer? Would it be effective to do this if I had a long line of footprints and keyed them to appear one after the other, or is there a faster way? I think there is some kind of addon that can sequence an array of objects so that each one performs the same animation one after the other. I just can’t remember what it’s called…
Also, is there a specific constraint that I need to use to get the footprints to stay on the path of the sphere?
This tutorial should get you 90% of the way there. Just need to animate the texture for the prints in the snow. Dynamic Paint would work too. http://www.blenderguru.com/videos/let-it-snow/
