Ever wonder how a dinosaur really walked? Maybe this is a clue:
Not sure if this is transferable to dinosaurs…
From my understanding the jerky movement of a chicken’s head and neck while walking is due to the limited function of their eyes:
Chicken can not focus while the head is moving - so they quickly thrust their head forward and then keep it almost steady while they have the body follow the forward movement.
At the very least for the carnivorous dinosaur species I highly doubt that this would apply, as hunting animals usually have forward looking eyes (for stereoscopic vision) with much better sight. And as soon as the “jerky head” is out of the equation, you will end up with a totally different motion sequence anyway.
Puts me in mind of the scene in the first Jurassic Park where all hell breaks loose in the kitchen.
