For I have made fire...(blend added)

This has been an experiment of mine to try to create a photorealistic flame(well at least a small one) with blender internal. and after alot of staring at a lighter I believe i finally got some good results:

used some sequencing with glow and multiple scenes, c&c is much appreciated.

nice one that is a very good flame.

it it textures on a plane or particals?

That looks bang on.

That looks real good.
How did you do that?

could we study the blend file

Uhhh… that is really good and realistic for a lighter flame!

For another flame (candle for example) you’ll have to change the bottom hue from blue to white or orange, I think.

Did you texture a photo on a plane or what?

That’s a rather nice flame. I would make it just slightly assymetrical though, for even greater realism.

Looks perfect!! Is it in any way animatable?

Alright, it was created using two cylindrical objects, i didnt use any particle except for a few halos for added glow and effect, yes it animateable if you attach a decent soft body effect to it you should be able to get a good moving flame, only thing wrong right now it i need to get sphereical blend tex to always point at the camera.

And for all those who are intersted, the .blend

very neat. gonna look at the blend now

Wow, very educational… Thanks!

got it thanks

you say you used sequencing

my blend was not as clear as the picture

are you using some plug ins or something

Is use sequence button activated under the animate button?

ok do sequence button activated looks good now

can this technique be mixed with particles

Excellent. Probably the best small flame I’ve seen done in blender.
