For post processing what is the Sampling used for?

I have a Render, Seed, and Clamp. I know there is a Blender manual for this but it’s too complicated to understand. I was wondering if anyone could explain it to me in a simpler way.

Are you using Cycles? Basically increasing the Render Samples will reduce noise and increase quality (at the expense of render time). Clamp will " […]clamp all samples to a maximum intensity they can contribute to the pixel, again to reduce noise at the cost of accuracy.". Seed is useful when rendering animations, you can keyframe it to change the noise in each frame.
