Long time ago I tried to model ford mustang gt, but I wasn’t patient (skilled) enough to finish it. Now when there is new blender, thanks to developers and new renderer mitsuba, modeling and rendering is more fun. So here is new model (PT 512 samples, 30min):
And 2 more shoots (PT, 256 samples took around 16 min)
There is grill, but somehow it doesn’t receive any reflections, of bounce light. Also car paint is bit plastic, but when I wanted to mix 2 materials, mitsuba just keep crashing for me.
PS. for full image size right click on it and click ‘open image’.
Very nice job. Which renderer did you use? It looks to be either Indigo or LuxRender from the speckles. Also, very nice compositing/post processing, I like the creamy color correction.
cgartland - see first post for info about rendering.
callmeishmael - thx man, if you liked post 9 then you will like attached image in first post even more
Artisten - yep I like it more too. I added it to first post.

Yep, sweet! I’m a low-time n00b (roughly three months) with Blender and I’m in the throes of attempting to model my beloved old Miata. Work like yours encourages me to persist - even though my results so far look like a Miata that spent months as a target on an artillery range.
that is a pretty cool job. For mine, in the first image, the depth of field is just too much and think maybe ease off it a little. I’m inclined to agree with xelptic that it looks a little plasticy cause you don’t have clear reflections in the metal from the environment around it that you’d get in real life (minor points though).
