FPS tutorial game project (short and simple) 2.5D

Hi i am looking for a person who knows the blender game engine and knows how to do Logic brick and uses it for their game a lot. Why? I am doing a FPS tutorial and want to team up with some one to help. I have done the first vid and most of the stuff i know i just need help with all the logic brick stuff. After the tutorial we will put together a quick FPS game in the style of DOOM, Marathon and such with sprites (a 2.5D) game. This wont take to much time and i just need help with a few things. Maybe we could make more games like these afterwards. The people who watch my youtube channel really want to know how to do this type of thing

thankyou.

if you can’t help full time can you help with some logic brick.

does anyone have a blend of the following

  1. Weapon/ ammo switch
    2.NPC sprite blend.

thanks

for those who want to take a look

How a FPS is 2.5D?

More T(hird)PS? but it can be only a topdown shooter?

think of the original DOOM1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BkjgGTvb8s
3d room or world but 2d sprites on a plane. there for 2.5d

i had to stop this because i have so much going on it was killing me…i will save the blend files though for anyone who wants to look at it. also maybe i will look at it around Christmas. sad, i always wanted to a game with this setup.

I could help you do the weapon/ ammo switch tutorial if you still would like help.
Send me a pm and we can discuss it via skype or email.
Vince

thanks again fpsgod17 for helping

Well but this is not 2.5d as it is described in general what 2.5d means.
2.5d: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2.5D

think in doom 1 there were flat models using flat billboards / sprites so no real 3d models, just sprites?

look at sim city, this is real 2.5d as I think?

what do you want to achieve?
where are the blend files? =)

At its core, the gameplay is similar to classic shooter games (such as Space Invaders), presenting the player with the challenge of surviving while shooting every enemy in sight, but with its pseudo-3D first-person perspective giving environments a spatial representation that has a major effect on the level design and gameplay experience.[8]

click on pseudo and you get shown the 2.5d wiki page.

what do you want to achieve?---- i want to make games with the doom set up, some people can’t have full 3d every thing so this is what they can do. also i want to do it for research. have fun

where are the blend files? =)

also to make the FPS creation a little bit easier i guess

Billboarding

In three-dimensional scenes, the term billboarding is applied to a technique in which objects are sometimes represented by two-dimensional images applied to a single polygon which is typically kept perpendicular to the line of sight. The name refers to the fact that objects are seen as if drawn on a billboard. This can be used to good effect for a significant performance boost when the geometry is sufficiently distant that it can be seamlessly replaced with a 2D sprite. In games, this technique is most frequently applied to object such as particles (smoke, sparks, rain) and low-detail vegetation. A pioneer in the use of this technique was the game Jurassic Park: Trespasser. It has since become mainstream, and is found in many games such as Rome: Total War, where it is exploited to simultaneously display thousands of individual soldiers on a battlefield. Other examples include early first-person shooters like Doom and Hexen.

with this set up i will begin making a small game called Jack Holland the the Haunted Mansion.

your girl friend is taken by weird monsters, you find out she was taken to the Dawson House which has been vacant for over 50 years. you pack your pistol and go into save her.

any one want to join. i will need a artist to make a few people characters you will meet and of course the monsters.

come on does any one want to help me with building this blender template???

i would work on the storyboard !

what story board?? it’s just a blender template file i am working on to emulate DOOM1, Duke nukem, Marathon, etc. i will do it for 2.49, 2.50, then 2.60. just need some help with switching weapons, ammo, health, drop weapons, pick up weapons, enemy ai (basic), enemy sprite animation.
