Fracture modifier

Hi there,

Just downloaded and the installed the Fracture Modifier build [FM] and helper addon - fantastic work :yes:
I have the following questions:

  1. I already had Blender 2.77 [Blender Foundation stable release] installed. Do i need to keep both version installed?
  2. Upon opening the FM build I noticed that all my preferences and addons had been copied and activated - should any addon that works with Blender 2.77 stable also work with the FM build 2.77?
  3. Why is this a custom build and not a standard type of addon, or even better part of the Blender core release?
