Frankensteining parts together

Hi i was wondering if there was any good tutorials out there for joining together two different meshes when the vertices don’t line up. Like if I want to take the arm of one character and attach it to another character for example. Hopefully doing so without messing up bone weigh assignments.

I’m not very experienced but I have done a lot of research and haven’t seen anything like that.

use the retopo tool. it’s kind of tricky to learn, but highly useful. also there’s a free application called mesh mixer that is good at smoothly combining multiple meshes. it has some sculpting features as well.

I suggest using the retopo tool as well or you can just increase or decrease the number of verts the mesh has in that area by combining verts.
