Free Film-Quality Airliner Model

Hello, everyone!
As Thanksgiving is coming up, I thought I’d give a little gift in thanks to the community for all your support. I’ve really been feeling the love, so here’s a little high-quality model absolutely free. It’s an airliner model, rendered in Cycles (although a BI version is included), and loosely based on the Boeing 737. It’s rigged, textured, and I’ve even thrown in the texture source files for super-easy modification. Enjoy!

Blendswap: Airliner by HJ Media Studios

Freaking awesome, HJMediaStudios. Just freaking awesome. And the fact that you uploaded it to BlendSwap is simply amazing. You must be a magic man…

Looks awesome and sounds like you went the extra mile to make it n00b friendly for anyone wishing to customize it. Very generous of you!

(Now lets get a posse together and go wack those who voted it only 4 instead of 5 stars at Blendswap.)

The star thing doesn’t bother me. If someone wants to get nit-picky and rate it one star for a minor flaw, I’m cool with that. It’s all about the downloads for me.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks right back at yea.

You’re welcome!

The blend file on Blendswap now includes a few rigging adjustments to make things just a little easier.

This is great  thanks man

Hey can i get some help with my blender. I am new to the whole thing and the last one i waited 18 hours for it to render only to have it saved as a picture… it was horrifying to see all my work lost like that. I was wondering if you could offer some help.

This isn’t really the place for that kind of thing, but I’ll see what I can do. I’ve sent you a PM, but in the future I’d check in the support forums first.

If you are rendering an animation, make sure to change the file format from PNG to a video codec. And don’t worry - if you render PNG images, just put them into Windows Movie Maker and change the framerate to whatever you like.

Very nice. I am not a jet plane expert – but it looks like the jet on the wings is not circular. Is this accurate to real jet craft, or did you design it that way on purpose? This doesn’t seem like something you’d overlook unless it was on purpose.

Do you mean the turbines?

yep.

Daren: we live in the age of the Internet, man. A quick search on Google images or wikipedia for Boeing 737 would easily answer this. Ive done the work for you:

well excuuuuuu–uuuuuussse me

I am having a problem with the model, mate. When I render the image in Cycles most of the model is all black. Any ideas?

Go to file>external data>unpack into files. For some reason Cycles has problems with packed images. Close Blender and start it again. If that doesn’t fix things, just go through the materials and select the appropriate image texture in each image node.
