Does anybody know of a FREE flash movie creation suite? I am mainly looking to create web banners and several other short movies. I have already checked out some, but the only one I seem to really like is Firestarter fro Coffee Cup software. Since it is shareware after a 30 day trial it costs 50 dollars. If I had 50 dollars to spare I might buy it, but right now I don’t (don’t forget I am a student, I don’t make money yet).

(suite may have been to strong of a word, basically I need something with effects, the ability add text, and put images on it, sound would also be nice, but isn’t required)

i kno its illegal, but just find somebody with a copy, and get it, and when u get money, jus buy FlashMX

Dude, if there was, Macromedia wouldnt charge so much. :wink:

If you do find one (which its highly doubtful) let us know. A tool like that would be useful.

You could try Flash Animator at http:\www.3dfa.com. It only costs $50 (US) and contains pretty much all of Flash’s basic functionality.

If you’re a college student you ought to be able to get it for a student discount price. i just called my college bookstore and the told me it is $99.95.

I have the whole macromedia suite, but I have no idea where it came from,…I just found it in my archives folder when I was rooting around, and it seems pretty good. Maybe it came with my computer.
<edit> I just did a little test anim and saved as SWF to see what the file size was like,…and I must say I am impressed.

You might want to check Swishmax at www.swishzone.com. The price is only 99.99 USD but if you can get your school to buy it (see educational pricing conditions), it’s only 34.00 USD. Swish 2 is only 49.95 USD…

It isn’t anywhere near usable, but if you’re a developer, go for it.

After that, there isn’t much. Try searching sf.net for “swf” or “flash”.

The Flash SWF format is an open format. Any one and his granny can write a program that outputs to SWF if he wants. The format definition is freely accessible on Macromedia’s website.

I just noticed a script in python and plugins that exports swf from blender. whadya know.

Seems to me that Open Office has some SWF export, and it’s available fo linux, Windows, and I think Mac.

theeth: There is no program that I have found in my searching that is anywhere NEAR as good as Macromedias Flash. Nothing has drawing tools AND animation tools like Flash does and nothing else has ActionScript like it does. (Swish? Yeah it has ActionScript but notas customizable or as powerful as Flash)

Yeah swf is open format. Flash? You just try and match it.

Flash is the editor, SWF is the file format. Apples and oranges.
