Free Mocap Data of the game 'I Will Escape'

On another thread we’ve posted several times that we are going to release the mocap data of our upcoming game ‘I Will Escape’.

The reason we’ve decided to use motion capture is because we’ve received a lot of criticism on our animations. The motion capture improved the movements of our main character.

We would like to thank the Grafisch Lyceum, school of art and design, for their time and for letting us use their motion capture equipment.

We hope the mocap data helps you with developing you game in some kind of way.

So, HERE IT IS! A link with a tutorial and the mocap data:

I would actually be very interested in some information on your pipeline. What software did you use for recording? How did you get that data into Blender?

We used a motion capture suit from Xsens, from a school for media, design & technology. And we also used meta bite mvn studio as software. We’ve exported this to bvh files and used blender to clean up the animations. Such as cut and paste and looping the animation. The data that you see here is the cleaned data.

What tools in Blender did you use for fixing the BVH data? I’ve found that Blender’s BVH and mocap tools left a lot to be desired and rarely worked as intended.

Before we import the BVH data into Blender, we cleaned up the recording motion capture data in autodesk motionbuilder. As finishing touch, we cleaned up the key frames in Blender.
