freeBDSD dependency problem

I have tried to run freebsd version blender 228a on a gnome-only freeBSD 4.8 desktop, but have received mising lib error.
(tried also linux versions under binary compatibility mode, but managed only 223static to get working and this is out of question)

missing lib is reported to be libSDL-1.1.so.5, (from …/…/libexec)
does anybody here have a solution or workaround to this - where to obtain it (it seems not to be on the cd) and how to install it?

or is this a matter of drag-drop rename a lib from some other folder (I read something like this works for some other apps, but I really can recall any details)

any help appreciated

You can get SDL here: www.libsdl.org.

thanks, but not 1.1 for fbsd.

Come to think of it I can’t find any reference to SDL 1.1 ever being released - weird. Try compiling Blender from source (against SDL 1.2)

uh, thanx again, but that’s just too much for me.

on the other hand, I think Blender just wants fbsd version of what is sdl.dll in it’s windows counterpart’s folder, in …/libexec. Tried to search freebsd site, but to no success (they have prepacked 225 and 227). Guess that’s about it for now, I’ll leave Blender to windows and linux.

add.:
I recently downloaded blender 226 and 227newpy for freebsd and both precompiled binaries work fine under fbsd 4.8stable.
