So I felt like modeling this, took 2.5 hours, and I was too lazy to do the knurling on the handle. Anyway, I sorta like how the lighting came out, though. Glare node & Motiva for post.
nice render. you can make a gnurled normals map by making a pyramid, adding a couple or array modifiers, giving it a normals material, and rendering it orthographically. or alternatively, apply the modifiers, and bake the normals onto a plane. I have used this method in the past, and so can report it works very well.
