Friendship 7 space capsule

This is a small project I’m working on. I’m trying to make a short space scene animation, and this is the model of the spacecraft which is the Friendship 7 capsule. I am basically done with the model, or at least that’s all the work I’m willing to put into it. The material on it now is a basic diffuse glossy shader, and is just a temporary fill in until I can work out the details. I would like to add decals just like my reference, however I’m fairly new to blender and I don’t know how to go about UV unwrapping a complex object like this one. There are many vents which make it complicated. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them. I thought about hand painting it, but I would like to try and unwrap it. I also need to add some normal maps and some basic scratches and paint texture. I’m all ears to any suggestions, tips, or anything else you’re willing to through my way. (all renders were rendered with cycles basic render settings at 50 samples at 1440 x 2560 then resized to 1080 x 1920 in post)
