SDF sounds in theory good and has many advantages but the type of the primitives also quickly show the limits of that tool.
The question is also what depth of NURBS.

sweep
sweep to rail
curve network
trim
split
project
fillet
chamfer
many of those tools are part of openCascade too.
But there is a geometry node attempt to bring NURBS to Blender.
It is pretty powerful but the node approach also has some downsides.
However it shows what is possible.
and it can be animated.
