I think that you should perhaps work for more solid darks and highlights in your picture. Pushing your shading should help more add depth to your picture, and you can also use the lights and darks as part of the composition.
His pose also seems a little stiff. I think you’ve got about the right pose, it’s just that I think you could exaggerate it more.
I like the way you’re use colors in the painting. It gives it a nice mood and helps unify the different elements.
