front and back colors

I’ve been writing an export script for IBM’s Data Explorer format (*.dx). DX meshes can have both a front and a back color. It doesn’t seem as if Blender has this functionality; the front and back are always the same color. If it is in fact possible, and it can be accessed with python, could someone let me know? Otherwise, does anyone have a good idea for a workaround? Below is a picture of a moebius strip to illustrate what I mean (Ignore the purple patch and the arrow looking things on it).

Notice how one side of the moebius strip is dark green, while the other side is light green.

i thin Anim8or has this functionality
