FSPY Video

Is there anyway to use Fspy for a video without GEOtracker? All YT video tutorials are either “Still Shot” Fspy into blender … Or… Video into fspy… then into Blender and use geotracker to import the tracking of video into blender.

I guess what I am asking is I want to drop a video (That is on sticks…little movement) into fspy to get the blender camera to line up with the YandX axis, parallax etc.

I know about PNG(ing) the video and using the first image of the video (in Fspy), but when i import the Fspy file I will just import that one image.

There was a tutorial about changing the background image into a “Volume” type scenario and then adding an image texture and UV unwrapping blah blah blah, but I don’t know if it would render out the same.

I am proficient in tracking in blender… It just seems like the “Set Up Tracking Scene” in blender does not give me the precise grid like Fspy does.

Any suggestions… Or links would be appreciated!

just do it with the first frame and import the fspy file. then go to camera settings, background image and there is a file browser button. click, navigate to movie file and choose it. the camera will of course only match at the first frame. then you can line up the geometry and for example try to line up the tracked camera. I tried that and it kind of worked although fspy gave different camera settings than tracking the camera in blender. but i know what you mean.

Then your track is not optimal… Or your placement of the 3D objects is off in relation to the tracked points.
Be sure to give Blender as much information as possible before starting the track. CCD size, lens etc. is handy to get the tracking start at the right… ehh… track
Don’t rely on the automatic stuff to much, sometimes you just need to put the work in to get a correct track. Or switch from free moving to nodal could also help.

And yes… FSpy is still image only I’m afraid

Thanks! That’s what I thought. My info into tracking (Censor, Focal etc.) is perfect cause it gets imported on the footage… I am just being lazy and was looking for an easy way. :face_with_spiral_eyes: On top of that I have some Steadi-Cam footage and even with the “Fast Motion” setting on the tracker it takes FOREVER to get at least 8 acceptable trackers then a resolve under 1.00. Especially when doing it as a side project and not getting paid, but again you are right automatic stuff is not the way to go.

Yes, sometimes it is like that…
"impossible’ footage just tracks fine at the first go and gives you a perfect track.

Sometimes ‘easy’ footage just keeps failing, and you have to go in and start placing manual trackers.
After all those years it sometimes still feels it’s a bit of a ‘dark arts’.
